Respondus LockDown Browser
LockDown Browser is a web browser that increases academic integrity by “locking” the browser and preventing students from navigating to external resources during a quiz or exam on Canvas. When students complete an online assessment in LockDown Browser, they are unable to access their class notes and other applications, print (except if enabled) or copy questions, visit other websites (except if enabled or websites have been whitelisted), or close the assessment until it is submitted. Assessments requiring LockDown Browser cannot be accessed or completed with any other browser.
Key Features
- Restricts access: cannot access other applications or websites (except if enabled or websites have been whitelisted) while using this browser. Quizzes/exams using this browser cannot be accessed by other browsers like Firefox, Chrome, and Safari
- Disables functions: cannot print (except if enabled), take screenshots or use keyboard shortcuts
- Locks until submission: cannot close Lockdown Browser until the quiz or exam is submitted (except if enabled)
